1.- Let me tell you people

`bout a man that you must know

his name was Victor Jara

and he lived a few years ago.

2.- He was born for bad luck

had misery in his shoes

and when he was a little child

he saw everybody´s blues.

3.- He grew up down in Chile

and became a real man

trying to help sisters and brothers

he was everybody´s friend.

4.- He used to sing for freedom,

self-respect and dignity

to a people that were hungry

and talked about solidarity.

5.- But they killed him on a sad day

with many others in many towns

while Pinochet´s dogs were barking

and the world was cowering down.

6.- Where are you now Victor Jara?

You tried to make a different world

I can feel it in your songs now

they killed your voice but not your soul.
